You should always bend at the knees when handling objects, never bend your back, never twist it either, because then you are using your spine as a crane jib. Even a relatively light weight, and in later years your upper body weight alone, can cause permanent injury.

I herniated a disk while running 20 years ago, easily the most painful injury I've experienced to date. Bothered me off and on over the years. Staying active, stretching, weight machines and the right shoes are keys for me. Just say no to jumping activities like volleyball and basketball. (never played much basketball but really like volleyball.)

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pstarr', 'S')o the back is out and I am typing away.
A little moist heat might offer some relief, back injuries are no fun.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pstarr', 't')here really isn't that much to say that hasn't been said before.
Yeah, so much has been posted that it takes a little thinking to
come up with something new. But there are always new things to learn and do.
Here are a few ideas if you don't know what to do with yourself...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do something today that you will enjoy tomorrow:

A few weeks ago I found that you can make a great rustremover
using molasses and water. It's a pretty neat trick :)

Discover the Secrets of Sudoku

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')his instructable provides step by step instructions to
complete a Sudoku puzzle by simple process of elimination.

One of the things I that drove me crazy about Sudoku is how
difficult it is to return to a puzzle if you get interupted. This system
allows you to walk away from a puzzle at any time and return
exactly where you left off.

The Harry Potter series is 4175 pages, that could keep you busy for
a while. Or if you really want to kill some time, try to read though all

that means beer and ibuprofen)

If you strained your back once you will strain it again worse next time and soon you will have chronic back pain.

If you work your way up to 1000 situps a day, you will never have another bad back day ever again and you will never be wheelshair bound and you will never be a back cripple.

That will be a million dollars, please, all the money you will save.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pstarr', 'B')ut Shanny was right. I've already taken 8--200 mg.

...I feel pretty good :)
Nice! :)

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Shannymara', 'I') bought myself a Swopper chair because I can't tolerate regular office
chairs all day.

That does look like a nice chair!

By the way, have you ever tried a kneeling chair?

They are so nice to switch too after a long day.
They never seemed great for all day, but I wish I still had one...

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Shannymara', 'I')'d much rather sit on the floor. I hate stupid office culture.
Sigh, yeah it's too bad. beanbags and pillows are really nice,
but not really compatible with most work places...

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Shannymara', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pstarr', 'I') tweak my back a little, just a little so it is sore somewhat.

I've herniated the same disk twice. Once when I was 22 lifting my Godson into his high chair, the second time when I was pregnant and flopped onto my bed too fast (relaxin screwed up my joints).

Godson, son of Shannymara. Your family avid readers of Thackeray by any chance? 8)

Or do you mean godson in the Maria Puzo sense?

Steam_ beat me to it with pics of the Swopper, which looks like a giant starter from an antique tractor, and also the kneeling chair. Friend of mine will sit in nothing at else at home - kinda hard to keep a straight face talking to him!

Yeah, but if it gets someone "started" in the morning... Hahaha, I'm so punny. :-D

I suspect in the business world beanbag chairs are frowned on for
similar reasons...
