Remember: you are merely a pack of genes in God's huge selection pool. As an individual, you are irrelevant.

That is something I can't accept. I strive to be something more than that, and I won't give up.

Maybe, but some individuals seem to be more irrelevant than others.

An American Talk Radio host told this story: a Rabbi was summoned to Belgium (I'm not making this up, that's where he was summoned) for a very important meeting with his superior. The Rabbi was waylaid in Heathrow Airport for a couple of hours. While there the man sitting next to him told him of his dispair and said he was going to commit suicide. The Rabbi helped the man so that the suicide plan was abandoned and the poor man had a new lease on life. So the Rabbi goes on to Belgium and asked his superior why he was summoned. The Belgian Rabbi asked him to say everything that happened on the journey. Eventually the Heathrow Airport story came out and the Belgian Rabbi said, OK you can go back to America. OK, its a Mystical story, but it goes to show that no one is insignificant. The slightest kindness can mean a great deal to someone else without our ever really knowing.

Embrace the pain. Learn to love it. And when you get a chance, inflict that pain on to others. That is how adults feel joy. :-D

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('entropyfails', '
')Did you mean 10,000 years?

Our ancestors 200,000 years ago (10k generations) did just fine at preserving their environment and respecting the K-selection nature of mammal life.

Eh..Lacking the ability to destroy is not the same as preserving it. :)
