The overwhelming majority still think it's all about economics.
Stop filling dumpsters, as much as you possibly can, and everything will get better.

Just think it through.
It's not hard to do.

A lot of economics types have been publishing, "See, I told you so" articles. They think the runup in oil prices is another dot-com boom, and will end much as the dot-com boom did. Hence the emphasis on calling the market top - the point where you should sell because it's going to be downhill after that.

The price of oil will fluctuate. (That is in fact expected when a resource is growing scarce.) But no way is this the "market top," and no way will there be a collapse like the dot-com bust.

Ha, despite all that money sloshing around, he still doesn't think that much more oil will be found. I thought economics was supposed to fix the supply side of things...

And they do have PART of the puzzle.

Dollar inflation is SOME of the high price, SPECULATION is also, but overall the truth of peak oil will keep the price high....despite "market calm"

The Mirage' in the desert is qoutes like thus:

``The aim is to break dependence on fossil fuels by 2020,'' she wrote in the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter in October. ``By then no home will need oil for heating. By then no motorist will be obliged to use petrol as the sole option available. By then there will always be better alternatives to oil.''

Either the man has not done his research, delusional, or lying through his teeth...in the end, it is the same result.

Economists are myopic morons. Last night I heard some BBC economics shrill say that India was going to be the bigest economy in the world in 2050. Where are the resources going to come from, dimwit? :lol: The 3rd world is going to stay poor untill we start getting the world population down.

well quoting swedish statements is not lying.

But I do think that anyone who thinks that GWB's talks about oil are worth nothing. Everything he says is in contradiction to what he has actually done. The closest action towards reality is that they force their way to Alaska.

American industries have done extremely littel to prepare to this. Car manufacturers cheered the nineties through this date with the SUV boom. Cars that technically are based on old pick up truck lay outs and frames with engines designed originally 1955 and that have had only 'not so major' re-designs since. WTF?
Where did GM use its R&D money? How to put an Escalade fenders on a GMC truck?

To say that the oil crisis is over just weeks after the prices were hitting highs previously seen only due to a hurricane is somewhat silly.

In that article I really saw nothing else than mainstream denial and non critical passing on of information.

Actually most americans believe that the crisis will be cured
if Greenspan or Bernanke ajusts the interest rates just at the right
level for a goldilocks economy.
That is as far as most americans care to think.

there will always be people who deny reality vehemently while it is obviously happening. these people will continue to do this until the very end.

the time to get worried is when the tabloids start saying everything is about to get better. :lol:
