Methanol is a critical component in teh manufacture of biodiesel. I wonder if big oil is exerting it's slimy hand to hinder the growth of the biodiesel industry.
For 55 gal drums, my cost has increased from $0.36/lb to $0.53/lb in a year.

Not so, you can use Ethanol or Isopropyl alcohol instead of Methanol, mostly it is a case of whatever is cheapest in large quantities.
