Fruit Farmers Get Diesel At Last, But It’s Rationed

Diesel fuel is finally available to the Western Cape’s fruit farmers, but it’s being rationed and the situation is not yet back to normal.

Minerals and Energy minister Lindiwe Hendricks lashed the oil refiners last week, accusing them of causing the fuel shortages by failing to hold a 25-day stockpile of refined products, and insisted that the industry refund motorists, who pay 3.8c a litre to the industry for holding the stockpile.
