Bill Holter writes and is partnered with Jim Sinclair at the newly formed Holter/Sinclair collaboration. Prior, he wrote for Miles Franklin from 2012-15. Bill worked as a retail stockbroker for 23 years, including 12 as a branch manager at A.G. Edwards. He left Wall Street in late 2006 to avoid potential liabilities related to management of paper assets as he foresaw the Great Financial crisis coming. In retirement he and his family moved to Costa Rica where he lived until 2011 when he moved back to the United States. Gold is not money and will never be money, in the last great depression Governments pegged the price of gold at $35 per ounce and legislated that there is only one buyer in the market, the Government. Government in Nth America jailed gold horders and traders, in Germany and Russia they were shot. The mere mention of the words “Gold & Silver” is indicicative of a fraudster. Gold has intrinsic value but it likely will never be money or back money except maybe as part of a basket in today’s global economy. In a future post globalism it may be money again but I doubt it. People like billy makati who howl about gold back currency have no understanding of finance and economics. Gold is a physical asset of enduring value used as an investment and financial insurance. Today central banks manipulate it so its true value is not appreciated. The central banks can’t let gold’s price go too high or else their dysfunctional monetary policy is exposed. China is a prime example of a country that would find it difficult to gold back its currency. Its centrally planned distorted economics would need to be rationalized. Their gold would be siphoned away if they ever gold backed it and maintained the policies they do of backing an economy in a debt fueled frenzy of growth. They already have terrible capital flight potential. BTW, gold backed means redeemable for those who may think you can have your gold and use it.
