Ex-US Ambassador to Saudi Arabia: ‘This Is the Worst Moment in US-Saudi Relations Since 9/11’

Public Policy

Former U.S. Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Robert Jordan said on MSNBC today, “I think this is the worst moment in U.S./Saudi relations since 9/11.”

The discussion, of course, centered around the disappearance and likely murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. He hasn’t been seen since he entered the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, and the most recent reporting reveals there is possible audio and video showing he was killed in the consulate.

Jordan elaborated on his comments today to Nicolle Wallace:

“I arrived in Saudi Arabia as ambassador a month after 9/11, and the question then was are the Saudis friend or foe? I think we’ve got similar questions going on right now. Is this a regime that is descending on a slippery slope into authoritarianism, thuggishness, and perhaps rogue behavior? And I think we’ve got to seriously ask that question. I think the time has come for us to stand up and show some leadership on this issue.”

He added that the U.S. does need Saudi Arabia as an ally, but that doesn’t mean “they have a blank check.”

Wallace brought up concerns about “the shallowness of the Trump administration’s relationship with the kingdom.” Jordan said the crown prince feels he’s “been given a green light to engage in any kind of behavior in the region that he wants, especially in stifling dissent.”

He added that it would be a big mistake for Treasury Sec. Steve Mnuchin to attend a Saudi conference that many have already withdrawn from.

It has been told over and over and over again since 9/11/2001 that Saudi Arabia is not only behind those terrorist attacks, but also has funded Al Qaeda and ISIS conduct so many attacks on Americans, Europeans, Iraqis, Syrians, Pakistanis, etc.

Yet the big oil is keeping America linked to that country to protect their interests.

“Authoritarianism, thuggishness and perhaps rogue behavior” I thought he was talking about the USA.

    Berlusconi buys soccer team:

All players need to be shaved, no tattoos, Italians only.

100 years ago the Italians were the first to react against the communist threat, the Germans followed a decade later.

The European right was defeated by the Anglo-Soviet globalists.

This time we are going to win because Russia and China are on our side and the US divided to the core. And again the Italians are the first to respond (although the Dutch could have had a populist PM as early as 2002, but he was murdered two weeks before the general elections).

Even Dutch Jew, gold bug, 9/11-truther, Willem Middelkoop, who wrote a (premature) book on peak oil asks rethorically:

“Is the US on the road to a new civil war?”

Most Italians are ashamed of him so it is no wonder he is another one of your heros.

Your wishfil thinking is completely at odds with fact that Berlusconi was the godfather of Italian politics, who is working at a comeback.

The wish, as carried by weak, spineless cucks like you, to give your country away to the third world, is unique on this planet. It is telling btw that when your country collapses, as it will, you will see no problem to flee to Berlusconi country, of all places. Principles you don’t have, just a bankaccount.

Neder, I am not denying he is making a comeback. His is a wealthy man buying his way to the top. There is nothing new with that. How do you think Trump got to the top? It took money to start with.

    “godfather of Italian politics”
Ah, nederliar, you mean godfather of Italian corruption and decadence.

“The wish, as carried by weak, spineless cucks like you, to give your country away to the third world, is unique on this planet. “
    Translation: Davy whooped my ass

    “It will”
Anytime a stupid extremist says something like that you know it is almost always wrong besides if the US collapses so will Europa.

“you will see no problem to flee to Berlusconi country, of all places. Principles you don’t have, just a bankaccount.”
I may retire in Italy who know. I have the option having an Italian wife with property in Northern Italy IMA a beautiful place situated in the Dolomites. Neder on the other hand is a lonely old man with none. He does not even have a pet. He is a loser living a lie.

MBS is acting like an Italian Godfather, a Puzo stereotype, which gives Climpotent a woody, something he hasn’t experienced in decades.

MBS is not a reformer but a tyrant.
