Tillerson Tells Congress Neither He, Nor Exxon Lobbied Against Sanctions

Tillerson Tells Congress Neither He, Nor Exxon Lobbied Against Sanctions thumbnail

Rex Tillerson, who recently gave up his post as CEO of Exxon Mobil Corp., told Congress during his Secretary of State confirmation hearing he’s made a clean break from his private sector life.

“My love of country and my patriotism will dictate that I serve no one else but the American people,” he said.

Tillerson split from ExxonMobil in December, shortly after President-elect Donald Trump chose him as his nominee for Secretary of State. If confirmed, Tillerson will transfer about $182 million in deferred ExxonMobil shares into an independently managed trust. He will also give up more than $4.1 million in cash bonuses during the next three years and he will sell the upward of 600,000 shares he owns in the company. Tillerson has worked at ExxonMobil for more than 40 years.

Members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee were expected to grill Tillerson on his ties to Russia, sanctions and climate change among other things. ExxonMobil has operated in Russia for more than 20 years, which includes longstanding business ties with Rosneft.

The senators did not disappoint.

On what was dubbed “D-Day for Grillerson” by analysts at R.W. Baird in their daily note to investors, Tillerson took tough questions senators, including Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and ranking minority leader Sen. Ben Cardin, R-Mayland, on Russian actions in Crimea and elsewhere.

“We expect the savvy oil boss to weather whatever the politicians throw at him on his way to confirmation,” the analysts said.

Confronted by Sen. Bob Menendez, D-New Jersey, on ExxonMobil’s business success in Russia and other oil-producing nations, as well as the derailing of certain sanctions, Tillerson said neither he, nor ExxonMobil lobbied against sanctions.

“I have never lobbied against sanctions. To my knowledge, Exxon never lobbied against sanctions to my knowledge,” he said, adding that any actions on behalf of the company were done with full transparency and according to legal process.

Among its filings with the U.S. House of Representative in 2014 under the Lobbying Disclosure Act of 1995, ExxonMobil did conduct lobbying activity related to sanctions, specifically the Russian Aggression Prevent Act of 2014. The Wall Street Journal noted other instances dating back to 2006, which also appear to contradict Tillerson’s assertion.

However, ExxonMobil insisted the company didn’t lobby against the sanctions, but on them.

“As our former chairman said, we provided information about impact of sanctions, but did not lobby against sanctions. The lobby disclosure reports you cited do not contradict his testimony,” Spokesman Alan Jeffers told Rigzone.

Meanwhile, during his first news conference in months, Trump praised his choice of Tillerson.

“Harold Hamm (Continental Resources CEO and key Trump adviser) said, ‘There’s nobody in the business like Rex Tillerson.’ That’s why I wanted to bring him into government,” Trump said.

Is ExxonMobil behind science records disappearance as much as they are behind fake news (PSMSL Update – 2) ?

It is rather obvious that the “Ds” will do everything in their power to delay, obstruct, and minimize anything the Trump admi9nistration tries to do. The POTUS is having a “hissy-fit” and attempting t do everything possible to destroy his sucessor. Like a spoiled child he should be treated with the distain he deserves.

Its sad, or amusing depending, how every amerikan ‘politician’ has to swear fealty to the uS war-state and its insane policies, to even be considered ‘fit for office’.

In this case, this senior, and core member of the Oil-Qaeda mafia, has to prove his ‘loyalty’ to the war-state by answering this loaded question. The implication clearly, is that uS sanctions v Russia are unquestionably right and proper, so anyone opposing them, in any way, is clearly a Russian agent. Of course, it doesn’t really matter what Drillerson says or does not, because they want his ‘boss’, president hairpiece, out of the way. The whole point of actions like this, is to ultimately undermine and discredit the donald. The end game? To (hopefully), put the clinton gang back in charge, officially. The trump is a little hard to read at times, he appears to be rejecting the ongoing uS ‘intelligence’ op to make him swallow the load of horsehit they are peddling about Russian ‘hacking’ of the fake uS elections. Since the don is not 100% ‘on board’, they have to keep the pressure up anyway they can.

Instead, drillerson gets to spout nonsense like ‘Russia is a threat’, and that uS sanctions are justified to show hes a good loyal merikan.

You see a lot of this sort of thing in the new ginned up cold war v2.0. During the election, even Jill Stein had to make obligatory ‘Putin bad’ noises, as if to prove her anti-Putin cred. I think things like this have the opposite effect, but that’s just me.

Anonymous, I haven’t been paying attention to this particular hacking deal and I have not heard of any serious evidence being presented, but the lengths that some of y’all are going to to defend the Russians strikes me as naive and motivated by something other than getting to the facts. Since the world became digitally connected every nation who has the ability (unspecified) to hack has hacked and/or made sure it’s known they can and will/would. Spying and intrigue are as old as civilization and have never stopped since day one and the USSR were masters at it. More bang for their buck than anyone else. Like I said I have not researched this accusation nor will I, but any of you who think the Russians are beyond this type of strategy are clueless. The Russians can and do hack and are among the best at it. Furthermore, if anyone thinks when it comes to power struggles that a guy like Trump and his crew would not ally with the foreign enemy of their domestic enemy then I suggest y’all need to hit the history books because that is one of the most common strategies in power grabs/struggles. It’s about the power same as it ever was and there are no good guy or bad guy distinctions. The entire history of tribes, kingdoms, empires and nation states is one of ever shifting and changing allegiances and back stabs. Putin, Trump, Erdogan, Hillary and all the others in line would shoot everyone of you in the fucking head if it would increase their power and not cost them too much blow back. Times like were are in now? When change is afoot are when you see the alliances and power moves increase and come out of the dark and it’s just begun. Elite rivalries and power games have caused as much or more death and destruction than the people running out of food and resources and actually needing to go conquer or starve. The Russians are as self interested as anyone else and if they were the ones with the upper hand you might not be so quick to defend them and especially since you don’t actually know what they have been doing. Like me you are not privy to all the secrets of every nation state. The internet is fun and all that but it’s not a magic window to behind the curtain. I trust the Russians as much as I trust the Americans and the Chinese and the Saudis and the …. – not at all.

Ap, the Russians DO have the ‘upper hand’ and they know it. (Ditto the Chinese) The only alternative for the U$ War mongers is a nuclear world war. And THEY know it. The idea of a ‘limited’ conventional war in Europe is a joke. it would only last until one side is losing and the nukes would come out.

Problem is: The America Warmongers think they can survive a nuke war and they may start one if it is the only way they believe they can get their way. The Russians know no one would win, but they would end it with the annihilation of the U$. No one wins. Even the places not directly affected will eventually die of radiation and nuclear winter.

The deep-staters needed someone, or something to hang their case on, and this fabricated ‘hacking’ tale was it. They couldn’t try to pin it on the USlamic state(that elephant wouldn’t fly), or domestic terrorists, or whatnot, so ‘Putin did it'(again). It if it wasn’t this, it would be something similar. Your ‘skepticism’ is misplaced in this case, but you are welcome to it. The only ones interfering in the uS ‘election’, was the uS itself. The Clintons and their zio-globalist friends, every major media outlet, the so-called ‘democratic party’, their repub counterparts, ALL interfered in the uS election in countless ways. Im going to keep giving Russia a pass on this one, sorry.

You know the old adage, repeat a lie often enough…..

Even some of the more progressive types feel the need to qualify their rejection of this tall tale with, well, ‘Putin *could* have done this, but probably didn’t’. Why the qualifier? If you are going to suggest Russia ‘could have hacked’ the uS election, why not extend the same courtesy to every other country\leader on the planet while you are at it?

I mean, Albania COULD have hacked the uS election too, but probably didn’t. But were not entirely sure they didn’t either, so lets hedge our bets and say they might have.

Anonymous I’ll take my skepticism over your speculation and 100% paranoid and childish certainty and conspiracy lingo any day. Stop pretending to “know” shit you don’t just because you happen to have an internet connection and are pissed off at the empire. Are so so fucking naive to think that the Americans are the only bad guys who ever existed or are the only ones operating today. Because you act like it. Hey I know why don’t you spin me another tale on how it’s all the Jews fault you little coddled faggot? Vancouver Island is it? Have you ever been anywhere or experienced any real hardship? Little Canadian millennial never been without?……..yet. Get out in the real world away from your computer and get some years in and you’ll figure out just how gray the world is. Try moving to your hero land Russia and see what you think about them then. They’ll eat you for breakfast.

If you read intelligence reports and they tell you up front t6hat the report is based upon conjecture and might have beens, throw the report in the garbage and ask for “evidence” if it does not exist. Guess what?

So Apneaman is posing as the sober skeptic by backing Killary’s blood libel aimed at Russians. America has been trying to foist regime change on Russia for years. It uses every dirty trick in the book, including paid agents (“NGOs”) who stage fake exist polls (such the ones in Ukraine in 2004 organized by the USA, UK and Canadian embassies) and make all sorts of claims about ballot fraud without a shred of evidence that get lapped up by the NATO MSM and politicians as “evidence” of the “illegitimacy” of the elected Russian government, and stage white helmet jihadi type incidents where supposedly their (illegal) demonstrations blocking roads are dispersed with force (we have video of these “civil society activists” smearing themselves with red paint and ripping their shirts to stage the scene for the eager NATO MSM always present at these events.

Meanwhile Russians are exposed 24/7 to NATO MSM propaganda about how their elections are all total frauds and how they really don’t support the politicians that they do. In fact, the NATO MSM tries to paint a lunatic fringe of NATO financed 5th columnists as the only political opposition and smears the actual political opposition as “pro-Kremlin”.

Now people are supposed to believe that Russia “hacked” the US election via RT broadcasts dealing with Killary’s brazen corruption from over a year ago. There has not been a single example of meddling in the actual balloting; no Russian sponsored NGOs running around making fake exit polls and yelling about fraud. All we have is the hacked Clinton emails and that is supposed to be a hack of the US election. Yeah, and pigs can fly. I will take the statements of Julian Asange about these being leaks over the bitter loser screeching by Killary and Obomber any day. And as I recall during the Climategate controversy, the focus was on the emails and not on the hackers.

So Apneaman is posing as the sober skeptic by backing Killary’s blood libel aimed at Russians.

Friday is a closet imperialist, although he goes at great length to deny that. He still hasn’t overcome the victory of the “blond asteroid” over the sea hag.lol He will spout out any MSM lie about history. Friday’s first loyalty is the British empire, now defunct. The 2nd is the US empire (soon defunct). Anything as long as Europe, including the Trumpeteers and Middle America, gets destroyed and his colored “algebra-inventing” pets carry away the victory.

    Not going to happen.

Hey I know why don’t you spin me another tale on how it’s all the Jews fault you little coddled faggot?

Friday will defend his Marxist globalist masters through thick and thin, even against attacks from the “black Nazi” from Toronto Anonymous and no doubt a Louis Farrakhan fan (even I have a certain distant sympathy for this real patriarch and real leader of his people), who even was willing to meet Alex Jones at somewhat cordial terms. It doesn’t matter how many wars these kosher neocons organize, Friday will back them anyway.

When even US Jews begin to attack neocons, you know that the end of their rule in the US is neigh.

These folks are now facing a global 1492 2.0 downfall (1492 = fall of Granada and recapture of Spain by the Aryans) and it will at least take a century or two for them to recover from that blow.

Ape Man’s above comments about Russia is good work. We have our differences but when I see objectivity with validity I will acknowledge it.
