Gov’t Yet To Use Nuclear Energy Source Due To Cost, Security Factors

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 28 (Bernama) — The government has already considered the possibility of using nuclear energy but has decided against it after considering the security and high cost factors, the Dewan Rakyat was told Monday.

“Besides the security concern, the cost to build the nuclear energy is very high and would take eight to ten years to construct,” he said in reply to a question from Abdul Rahim Bakri (BN-Kudat) on whether the government had decided to use nuclear energy since the initiative had already started in the 1970s.
