Tapping into the Ocean’s Energy
The oceans generate enough energy for us to give up coal and gas completely, but no one has been able to harness it effectively. The Triton is a wave harvester that uses a novel design which may be the key to unlocking the power of the ocean

Another bad joke the techies will gobble up and worship.

I saw a similar device built by this guy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dick_Strawbridge
and another guy on a tv show over 5 years ago, it will be interesting to see the old ideas come back around, now that we are figuring out we need to work with nature again.

It was called planet mechanics, great show, they should not have canceled it.

“it will be interesting to see the old ideas come back around, now that we are figuring out we need to work with nature again.”
Working with nature does not include industrialism Practical. Sustainability means using naturally occurring ‘resources’ at a rate slower than, or equal to the rate in which they are naturally replenished. Any process which uses up naturally occurring ‘resources’ at a rate faster than they can be replenished is not sustainable. Any process that uses up non-renewable resources period, is also not sustainable. In other words, a dead end.
If we cannot learn to live within the confines of the Earths natural systems, in a sustainable manner, then we are only doing more of the same that got us into this mess in the first place, and the longer that we continue down this path, the worse the consequences will be for all of us in the future. As it stands already, the future is not looking overly bright. Perhaps now would be a good time for us to wake up, but unfortunately, we aren’t going to.

The device works perfectly. It harvests money from the taxpayer, generating income for the researchers.
They enjoy 6 figure salary, jet tickets, paid vacations, and 2 hour lunches, all 100% sustainable and renewable.
The researcher pay does not require fossil fuel to initiate the process, although usually fossil fuel combustion results from the process when they drive away in a new Volvo.

Hahahahahahaha, at 1:37 the reporter asks if “this is that what a full-scale Triton would look like?”
Is this how stupid the general public have become??

More canaries of collapse. We are going to see the grid destabilize in the collapse process. Below is an example of alternatives to the diesel generator. Greenies don’t get your rocks off yet because the cost of these systems make it prohibitive except for the wealthy. In a global world of shrinking pies and declining economies of scale these gadgets will likely never take off. But they sure make for great news to spread hope.
“Tesla Tested by Enel to Buffer Rising South African Power Costs”
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-04-13/tesla-tested-by-enel-to-buffer-rising-south-african-power-costs
“Enel Green Power SpA, the renewable energy unit of Italy’s biggest utility, is rolling out a version of Tesla Motors Inc.’s home-power kit to help South African retail customers buffer against rising electricity prices and grid outages. With South African power tariffs set to rise 9.4 percent this year, Tesla’s battery systems could become more attractive to customers seeking to reliably store self-generated renewable energy at home, said Enel Green Power Chief Executive Officer Francesco Venturini in a phone interview. Power outages plagued the country’s grid on average about every fourth day last year.”
“Enel entered the power market in Africa’s most industrialized nation in 2012, bidding for commercial-scale renewable projects of as much as 150 megawatts. A subsequent shortage of electricity resulted in managed blackouts in the country on about 100 days last year. Rapidly rising power prices and the development of Tesla’s battery pushed the Rome-based company to pursue retail business.”

also a good device for waveenergy with only turbine as moving part.
