Devastating photos show lakes vanishing around the world

Warm temperatures and lower snowfall rates are causing several lakes, like Lake Poopó in Bolivia, to vanish. Here are some troubling images of lakes around the world that are vanishing.

Meltdown Earth: the shocking reality of climate change kicks in – but who is listening?

“And another one bites the dust. The year 2014 was the warmest ever recorded by humans. Then 2015 was warmer still. January 2016 broke the record for the largest monthly temperature anomaly. Then came last month.

February didn’t break climate change records – it obliterated them.”

It is rather ironic that a video about a water crisis begins with a commercial about a man taking a shower.

Record-breaking temperatures ‘have robbed the Arctic of its winter’

2015 and 2014 are the Top-2 warmest years on record.
2016 (Feb & Jan) are the Top-2 warmest months on record.

No wonder the rivers and lakes will shrink.

Not to mention rivers that no longer reach the sea. The world is changing, and not for the better as far as humans are concerned.

You dive off the diving board, and somebody stole the lake. That can really hurt.

What about all those glaciers and the North Pole that we melted. Fill the lakes back up with all the melt water.

I’m still amazed at how many “educated” Americans don’t realize that the physical environment circumscribes human economies. Of course the MSM probably doesn’t mention this outside of natural disasters. (I wonder what causes those?) And political debates???
It’s also too bad that science and math are so difficult, but I’m sure that everyone will be answering that unwanted wake up call very soon.

They named it lake Poopoo. Just as well it’s empty.

This year there was El Nino. Not sure it was really about global warming.

  10. PracticalMaina on Wed, 16th Mar 2016 8:41 am

Yoananda in 98 the record setting el-nino before this one. We were only about .4c above regular average temp. This el-nino 1.35c. This is gonna get out of hand quickly. 2 consecutive record high average temp years in a row, coming up on number 3.

Some scientist are now saying the Bermuda Triangle sinks ships with large bubbles of methane. They discovered huge craters off Norway and extrapolated this to the Triangle. The feedback loop is gonna be a bitch.

Sadly yes. Frogs in a pot of water.

    http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-03-16/venezuela-to-shut-down-for-a-week-as-electricity-crisis-mounts

“The government has rationed electricity and water supplies across the country for months and urged citizens to avoid waste as Venezuela endures a prolonged drought that has slashed output at hydroelectric dams.”

Sadly systems progress from exponential growth to total collapse. Without predators to limit numbers and force stability or systemic restrictions then the growth models ‘stability’ is exponential which of course viewed on geographical time is obviously explosive.
To say its unsustainable is beyond obvious, yet humans are not simple animals in a natural system, we have inventiveness which is a type of extreme adaptability, whether or not its enough to see us through the next 100 years without any severe damage remains to be seen.
I for one am hopeful but sadly also very sceptical about new ‘inventions’.

CRATERS IN BARENTS SEA NOT CONNECTED TO BERMUDA TRIANGLE

    Joe:
Larger brains helped proto humans to survive a changing environment in Africa. Such adaptations work well for a given environment for a time, but may not always convey an advantage. Our species was too successful.

PracticalMania- The loss of ships and aircraft in the Bermuda Triangle due to bubbling methane theory was investigated and replicated, but failed to sink ships. This theory has been debunked.

  18. practicalMaina on Thu, 17th Mar 2016 8:13 am

How do you replicate a burst of methane that creates a crater a few km wide, it probably is not what is behind it, but would they admit some scary choking, climate altering phenomena was happening right off our coast? If they could pinpoint any reason it probably would not be good for the cruise biz, or air travel in the area.

  19. Go Speed Racer on Thu, 17th Mar 2016 8:50 am

Yeah. Can’t run as experiment. However, main suspicion is bubble must be right under ship. Otherwise, bubble is simply witnessd as nearby event. Where are all th sailors who saw a bursting monster methane bubble? Why not snap a picture of one that exploded 1000 feet away? What about the sailors who were not sunk, but needed medical help due to breathing too much methane? The lack of near misses suggests methane hydrate doesn’t burst all at once.

Too many people……….create too much pollution and demand too many resources….

China made great progress in moving its people out of poverty…….one reason was slowing population growth…..

If you can not provide for yourself you can not provide for a child.

CLIMATE CHANGE, declining fish stocks, droughts, floods, air water and land pollution, poverty, water and food shortages all stem from the worlds worst environmental problem……. OVER POPULATION.

Yet the world adds 80 million more mouths to feed, clothe, house and provide energy and water for every year… this is unsustainable… and is a big part of the Climate Change problem
