As the muthafuckin’ resistance has been busy blocking pipelines all across Turtle Island, from the Keystone XL pipeline in the United Snakes, to the Northern Gateway and Pacific Trails pipelines in unceded Wet’suwet’en territory, capitalist oil-peddlers have had to find a new way of transporting their precious cargo to refineries across the country.
They have done this by quietly increasing the amount of oil being transported by train. Since 2009, there has been a massive increase of 28,000 fucking per cent in this insane practice – with the Canadian Railway Association estimating that 140,000 carloads of this flamable shit will be hurtling across Canada’s railways this year alone. We all saw with the tragedy in Lac Megantic earlier this year what can happen if something, or someone fucks up. Railway accidents are not uncommon… and so these explosive train cars are literally ticking fucking time bombs

Obama is blocking the Keystone XL pipeline. Environmentalists are blocking other oil pipelines. For some reasons these dimwits would rather see the oil moved by dangerous oil trains then transported through safer pipelines.

Obama is being a smart politician and sticking it to the do nothing Republicans. The oil is still being shipped by rail AND existing pipelines. Tar sands and fracked LT are energy losers anyway. The extraction numbers go up but the EROEI keeps dropping.

It isn’t the Republicans who are being injured and killed when oil trains blow up.
Its just folks who happen to live in towns where the oil trains come through.

Pipe lines screw up and do bad things too. Just to clarify since you obviously do not understand, Obama is now what is known as a lame duck President. Obama is showing the republicans who is boss. The Keystone pipeline will not stop railroad accidents by the way. The paint thinner and road tar will still be shipped by railroads. The President does kill people, however, unfortunately, with drones.

Moving oil is dangerous…ships, trains, pipelines…all bad. All have extreme environmental risks involved. All can be sabotaged easily too. Maybe I should throw in some fk’n curse words to accentuate my point.

Neither of the recent oil train ‘incidents’ were
anywhere near the proposed Keystone pathway.
There were two pipeline ‘leaks’ last week.
Both were contained quickly with little damage.
I wish the editors of these pages changed that ‘gay’ headline to “BOOM! Why Oil Wars
Are Dangerous and Must be Stopped”.
At this moment there’s little hope for stopping run-away trains or wars.

Summary of Weekly Petroleum Data for the Week Ending February 13, 2015
U.S. crude oil refinery inputs averaged over 15.4 million barrels per day during the week
ending February 13, 2015, 122,000 barrels per day less than the previous week’s average.
Refineries operated at 88.7% of their operable capacity last week. Gasoline production
increased last week, averaging 9.2 million barrels per day. Distillate fuel production
decreased last week, averaging over 4.6 million barrels per day.
U.S. crude oil imports averaged 7.1 million barrels per day last week, down by 181,000
barrels per day from the previous week. Over the last four weeks, crude oil imports
averaged 7.3 million barrels per day, 3.6% below the same four-week period last year.
Total motor gasoline imports (including both finished gasoline and gasoline blending
components) last week averaged 635,000 barrels per day. Distillate fuel imports averaged
216,000 barrels per day last week.
U.S. commercial crude oil inventories (excluding those in the Strategic Petroleum
Reserve) increased by 7.7 million barrels from the previous week. At 425.6 million
barrels, U.S. crude oil inventories are at the highest level for this time of year in at least
the last 80 years. Total motor gasoline inventories increased by 0.5 million barrels last
week, and are above the upper limit of the average range. Finished gasoline inventories
decreased while blending components inventories increased last week. Distillate fuel
inventories decreased by 3.8 million barrels last week and are in the lower half of the
average range for this time of year. Propane/propylene inventories fell 3.5 million barrels
last week but are well above the upper limit of the average range. Total commercial
petroleum inventories decreased by 0.8 million barrels last week.
Total products supplied over the last four-week period averaged 19.8 million barrels per
day, UP by 3.6% from the same period last year. Over the last four weeks, motor gasoline
product supplied averaged over 8.6 million barrels per day, UP by 3.5% from the same
period last year. Distillate fuel product supplied averaged 4.2 million barrels per day over
the last four weeks, UP by 6.6% from the same period last year. Jet fuel product supplied
is UP 4.1% compared to the same four-week period last year.
