“Transition” people are just a bundle of contradictions. They’re a global movement to localize. They’re hopeful doomers. They’re back-to-nature romanticists who mostly live in cities. They drive to their crop swaps. They talk about community but are so politically and rigidly left they alienate potential allies (Hopkins has noted this.). They talk about personal connections but twist arms at the city councils. Some of them think there’s room for “social justice” in their movement. They praise localization but stick their nose through activism in everyone else’s business.
It was a good idea. But they should listen to Hopkins more and Hansen less.

People who compromise are the worst!

Transition is a poor joke. The, what we called ‘yuppies’, are, much as Mike says, upper middle class who want a “feel good” experience so they become ‘transitioners’. It is true that we WILL have to transition to a much lower life style, but nothing I have seen in their articles are realistic or doable on a worldwide scale.

The only transition humans will encounter is near term planetary extinction.

“on a worldwide scale” – there is your problem.
