BBC – Modern civilization depends on energy from fossil fuels.
For years, we have ignored warnings about peak oil. Now we need to pay attention. We are not running out of oil. But we have used up all the easy-to-access oil

The video linked to is one of those docudramas that assumes that oil disappears in one day!
Nothing to do with reality..

I caught this a couple of months ago on the topdocumentaryfilms website. Wasn’t particularly impressed.

This video drives home the point of the importance of oil. Not very realistic. More drama then anything.

I’m not sure if these sensationalistic doccu-dramas help or hurt awareness more. Early in:
“The Kern River oil field, a black pool of oil that contains over half a billion barrels of oil,….”
“WOW! That’s alot!”, people may think.
“….enough to fuel America for 4 weeks.”
“WOW! That’s not very long”….. I wonder how many people make that connection between the vast amount of oil they’re being told is down there and the absurdity of our rates of consumption. I think most get lost in the huge numbers. Others assign films like this to the same category as other disaster movies or zombies; these things are only scary on film. After all, they filled the tank on the way home, right? And “they’ll think of something. They always do.”

Remember our friend Mat Simmons talking about what would happen if everyone would go to top their tanks off! I miss Matt. The guy would smile and sinker and tell you the world might end.

Saw this long ago. Does not begin to detail the events after. Can oil end like that? Maybe if the economy collapses, or we get involved in a great war. It certainly will be rationed and not available, eventually, to anyone but government/corporations. That’s my take on the subject.
