Potential does not make reality.

Bill – That’s true but little by little some of that potential is being proved. I haven’t tried to track the details but there have been a string of significant offshore discoveries from Thailand to Viet Nam. Again, not sure of the total magnitude yet but a lot of drilling capital being spent. In addition to what reserves are being developed there’s been a healthy push towards increases in refining and storage infrastructure in the region.

Unfortunately, the news media is part of the problem, referring to that particular body of water as the “South China Sea.” This is a gross error. It should be called “West Philippine Sea,” at least the half of it which is inside the Philippines’ 200 mile exclusive economic zone.
