Shell Chief Executive Peter Voser said Wednesday that he wanted to work on the sustainability agenda when he retires from the oil major next year. “I want to give something back which I learned over the last 30 years and work on the sustainability agenda long term, which body, which area, I have no clue at this stage,” he told reporters.
Mr Voser, who last month said he would retire next year, said he planned to take up some non-executive directorships on boards, though not on the board of Shell. Mr Voser will be retiring at the age of 55 and will have served five years as chief executive. He joined the company in 1982, left for an executive position with ABB Ltd 20 years later and then returned to Shell in 2004 as chief financial officer.

What will actually happen is wankers like this will infiltrate the green movement for some specific agenda or other. Once a megalomaniac psychotic always a megalomaniac psychotic

The fox is going to retire and wants the key to the chicken coop.

Why so negative? He made a fine career within Shell and no doubt made a lot of money. But now he is retired and wants to occupy himself with the sunny, windy future rather than the greasy past. People like him make it clear that oil insiders know that fossil fuel is running out.
Welcome to the club, mr Voser. Maybe you can divert some of the vast financial resources of Shell to more promissing ventures.

So let me get this straight – he was unconcerned with sustainability for 32 years, but now he’s retired he wants to come over from the Dark Side?
Well, sorry Mr. Voser, but it’s too late! The time to do something important for sustainability was during the last 32 years, and especially during the last 5 years, when presumably you had a lot of power to make meaningful changes.
If he’s serious about a commitment to sustainability, the only thing Voser can do now is maybe get a false feeling that he’s saved his soul. But he hasn’t. The damage has been done.

When was the last time you paid a visit to the filling station or boarded an airplane? If not for a long time, you can go straight to heaven, you will not collect 200$.

No wonder this is such a short article. Its about a fossil-fuel executive and sustainability. No wonder RigPorn could only come up with 2 (very) short paragraphs.
However I had to laugh when he said he ‘no idea’ what ‘area’ he wanted to work on.
I have a suggestion for Mr Voser, pick whatever area Shell corporation put the most money and effort into hindering and opposing all those years with you at the helm, and support that, whatever it may be. It wont get you into w/e heaven you imagine will be waiting for you. You dont get to poison the Earth all your life then say 3 Hail wind-turbines and you’re off the hook, but whatever.
