Fukushima Radiation: Japan Irradiates the West Coast of North America

Fukushima Radiation: Japan Irradiates the West Coast of North America thumbnail

Radiation from Japan’s nuclear accident has turned up in seaweed on the coasts of California, Washington and other parts of the West Coast of North America.

The ocean is so big … how could this be happening? Why didn’t the gigantic Pacific Ocean better dilute Fukushima radiation?

A 1955 U.S. government report concluded that the ocean may not adequately dilute radiation from nuclear accidents.

MIT says that seawater which is itself radioactive may begin hitting the West Coast within 5 years.

In 10 years, peak radioactive cesium levels off of the West Coast of North America could be 10 times higher than at the coast of Japan.

As we’ve previously noted, Reuters reports that Alaskan seals are suffering mysterious lesions and hair loss:

Scientists in Alaska are investigating whether local seals are being sickened by radiation from Japan’s crippled Fukushima nuclear plant.

Scores of ring seals have washed up on Alaska’s Arctic coastline since July, suffering or killed by a mysterious disease marked by bleeding lesions on the hind flippers, irritated skin around the nose and eyes and patchy hair loss on the animals’ fur coats.

“We recently received samples of seal tissue from diseased animals captured near St. Lawrence Island with a request to examine the material for radioactivity,” said John Kelley, Professor Emeritus at the Institute of Marine Science at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

“There is concern expressed by some members of the local communities that there may be some relationship to the Fukushima nuclear reactor’s damage,” he said.

Here’s a picture of one of the injured seals:

We reported yesterday that a new scientific paper shows that the Fukushima radioactive plume contaminated the entire Northern hemisphere during a relatively short period of time, and Ene News today reports on a potential correlation:

(The correlation is not exact … but close enough to ask whether the radioactive plume hit Western Alaska and was then carried around the coast by ocean currents.)

Radioactive fish are also being found off the West Coast.

A California-sized island of debris from Japan is also hitting the West Coast.

And West Coast residents have also been exposed to Fukushima radiation from the air.  See this, this and this.

Indeed, some doctors claim that people living on the West Coast have already been killed from Fukushima radiation.

Fukushima … the gift that keeps on giving.

Society is either incredibly stupid or they are choosing to ignore the whole situation. The radioactivity in the Pacific Ocean will keep increasing until the Japanese get the Fukushima Plant shut down and cleaned up. Likewise, the Gulf Oil Spill will affect the area for decades if not a century or more. The news media and advertisers are leading the public into thinking that the oil in the gulf has dissipated or disappeared. The real truth is that oil and the dispersants used to “clean up” the oil will linger and have major affects on marine life for decades as well. I would never eat any sea food from the Gulf.

The sooner we transition to safe, clean alternative energy sources the better.

Wind, solar, wave energy, geothermal and second generation biofuels made from algae, cellulose and waste are much safer and less hazardous to the environment.

That’s true Kenz, but which politician is going to persuade the populus to pro-actively make sacrifices to make this happen and switch to an energy base that will inevitably be much smaller than the one we have today? Nobody. It will be easier to blame foreigners for the situation and start a war in such a way that said foreigners can be blamed for starting the war as well. To be honest, I see no other way out either. People who are in the know will try to take measures and avoid the worst, but you never know in advance where fate will strike hardest. I always have to think of these British people who were afraid a nuclear war might break out in Europe so they decided in 1978 to move to the Falkland islands on the southern hemisphere 😉

2000 plus nukes set off in less than 50 years
    Oil spills continuously and globally
Oil pipelines will continue to displace population
    Fukushima will continue spilling
More GMO crops will be planted
    More chemtrails will be sprayed
More; fluoride, pharmaceuticals, poisonous vaccines, more poison. More candy, free stEak, iPhones and a/c
1984 is history. Brave new world in effect in conjunction with “rewilding” of most land(no people but pipe and power lines okay)-agenda21
    Agenda21 depopulation.
Radiation can be absorbed/restructured/mad harmless. Why are they waiting and ignoring it? Why are they ignoring the oil spills we can prevent and clean? Boiled frogs. Will use economic collapse for civil unrest and let us pick at each other slowly until the population numbers are right again
