Members of Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps are in Syria providing non-military assistance and Iran may get involved militarily if Syria comes under attack, its commander said on Sunday.
The statement is the first official acknowledgement from a senior military commander that Iran has a military presence on the ground in Syria where an uprising has left tens of thousands dead since it began 18 months ago.
Western countries and Syrian opposition groups have accused Iran of providing weapons and expertise to Syrian armed forces and have suspected an Iranian military presence inside the country. Iran has denied this.

Its mission was to supervise the issuance and employment of $10 million of military equipment to support French legionnaires in their effort to combat Viet Minh forces. By 1953 the amount of U.S. military aid had jumped to over $350 million and was used to replace the badly worn World War II vintage equipment that France, still suffering economically from the devastation of that war, was still using….”

But the western countries….screw, that, the United States, providing weapons and expertise to the so-called Syrian Free Army(and others), which is neither Sryian, or free, or even an ‘army’ in the operative sense, is totally ok. Pretty easy to see why the US gets so enraged when Russia or Iran or anyone tries to assist the Sryians fighting the US’s Al-CIA-da network. The hypocrisy is breath-taking.
