Matan Vilnai, who is stepping down as home front defence minister to become ambassador to China, said the country was “ready as never before”.
“The assessments are for a war that will last 30 days on a number of fronts,” he told the Maariv newspaper.
“It could be that there will be less fatalities, but it could be there will be more, that is the scenario that we are preparing for according to the best experts.”
Speculation is growing that Israel is planning a unilateral attack on Iran’s nuclear programme – or that it is using the question to increase pressure on Barack Obama to launch an American strike.
Israel is convinced that archenemy Iran is trying to build nuclear weapons, dismissing Tehran’s claims that its nuclear programme is for civilian purposes. Israel considers nuclear-armed Iran to be a mortal danger. Iran backs anti-Israel militants with funds and weapons, and its leaders often call for Israel’s destruction.
In his latest pronouncement, Iranian Supreme leader Ali Khamenei said Israel will disappear from “the scene of geography.” Addressing war veterans in Tehran on Wednesday, he said Iran considers it its “religious duty to save this Islamic country (Palestine) from the clutches of the Zionist occupiers.”
Israel’s leaders have indicated an attack is a possibility if they conclude the international community has failed to halt the Iranian nuclear program.
Mr Vilnai did not elaborate on how he reached his assessments, but his office relies on intelligence and other assessments about Iranian weapons capabilities and Israeli susceptibility. Defense Minister Ehud Barak has also said the Israeli death toll could be in the range of 500 in such a conflict.
“Just as the citizens of Japan have to realize that they can have earthquakes, so the citizens of Israel have to realize that if they live here, they have to be prepared to expect missiles on the home front,” Vilnai said. “It’s not pleasant for the home front, but decisions have to be made, and we have to be ready.”
At a news briefing in Washington on Tuesday, Leon Panetta, the US defence secretary, reaffirmed the US assessment that Israel has not yet decided whether to strike, while the US military chief, Gen. Martin Dempsey, echoed a widely held assessment that an Israeli operation would only set back, not destroy, Iran’s nuclear project.

Ah yes, and we would only be in Iraq for a month with few casualties…lol. And Iraq was a small, relatively weak nation with no real military to speak of. Not so Iran. 30 days will just be the beginning and this time the casualties will be in the many thousands all over the globe. Maybe millions or billions.
Iraq did not have Russia and China for buddies. Iraq did not have a huge mountainous country that would cost many many lives to invade on land. Iraq did not have hundreds, maybe thousands of missiles capable of taking out carriers or oil facilities in the neighboring countries. Iraq did not have the capability to choke off 20% of the world’s oil supplies.
Iraq took 10 years and we lost. Afghanistan is still going on after 12 years and we are losing. The Empire is a paper tiger and their buddy Israel is going to get it’s butt kicked so bad, you will not even hear about them in the future. Wait and see.

Another thirty day war. Hah! How many times are they going to try this s**t?
We had two thirty day wars in Iraq that turned out never to end.
As I’ve said before, I don’t understand how Israel gets to have nuclear weapons but can stand back and demand that Iran not have the same weapons. Other than the debatable distinction of being God’s chosen people, how does Israel get moral superiority here? They’re position has to be that they are responsible and selfless and could never have an evil intent with respect to nuclear weapons, while Iran is evil and pursues only evil purposes.
I have an uncomfortable boding that Israel is going to bite off more than it can chew.

I fail to see how such a small country like Israel could go against a country 20-30 times its size. Iran is no Iraq, it has many more weapons and their terrain is rough. Plus, Russia and China will support them if the U.S. gets in the way. Right now, I fail to see how Israel can win a war against Iran without heavy support from the West. So, this war may end up a stale mate since there will be two power factions supporting both parties.

When you have a megalomaniac in charge, Netanyahu, this is what you get. Another religious war that drags in the rest of the world.

Israel is not a small country, as it controls the government and congress of the USA. Euro-America abdicated by 1913 at the latest during the creation of the FED. Read Henry Ford about the state of the US powerstructure in the twenties. JFK was the last upsurge of Euro-American resistance against this state of affairs and he was murdered because of it. Nixon was caught off-guard by saying to Billy Graham what every american politician knows: The Stranglehold.

The question now is, do Americans have it what every single European nation had in the past, namely ‘address’ this problem and strike at the viper. If you don’t, you and your children are going to be used as a stick against the rest of the world, in order to erect a Soviet-style global tyranny. That’s the gameplan. And there is an easy way out and that is 9/11-truth, which has the potential of overthrowing the current US powerstructure before it is too late and the world has been set on fire again, when the US was used to destroy the European mother civilization by the same lobby around Roosevelt. But then you could count on the cooperation of the largest bunch of criminals the world has ever seen, the USSR. Now you are on your own against the world.

Talk of war against a Country that has just suffered a massive earthquake? What kind of merciful God are you supporting? In any case, it is well known they will fight back. The US does not know the meaning of this concept, having so far gone down the road of hubris and idiocy.

Currently in the US there are a handfull of euro-american pockets of thinly veiled resistance againt the zionist takeover of the US: Pat Buchanan, Paul Craig Roberts and Ron Paul and his libertarian coterie around lewrockwell.com and antiwar.com. And that is about it. Todat Pat refers in his column…
http://lewrockwell.com/buchanan/buchanan258.html
…to the Weekly Standard, the main periodical of the jews in the US. They suggest that Ahmadinejad is more anti-american (and thus dangerous) than Hitler, Stalin and Mao combined (ignoring that Stalin and Mao were on the side of the Americans during WW2). This is how politics works in the US: constantly beating the war drums for years in the zionist run media until the US public is brainwashed into supporting an attack. This btw is exactly the treatment Germany got between 1933-1939, until the Roosevelt gang engineered a war between Poland and Germany, by giving the Poles the false impression that the US, UK and France (FUKUS according to pravda in 2012) would come to the aid of the Poles regardless, so the Poles started to kill and etnically cleanse the Germans in Versailles Poland and the Germans had no choice but to intervene. Or ‘started world war 2’ as the allies diagnosed in their kangaroo victors court in Nuremberg. 2012 is 1939. The US zionists are at it again, hell bent on starting WW3, the war that is intended to lead to world government seated in Jeruzalem. Are we going to let that happen? The Russians, Chinese and muslims certainly not. And neither will Germany. All the American empire can achieve is blowing up the world and itself, rather than dying peacefully like the USSR. In a post carbon world their is no room for global empires anyway.

It’s easy to fool the uneducated, drugged out American sheeple. Just give them free TV and cheap gas…

Arthur, that is the first time I have ever heard the Poles turned on the Germans first, if it’s true, where are you getting this info? The world must have more info like this stored somewhere.
Arthur on Fri, 17th Aug 2012 10:57 pm
John, I am reluctant to go into that since it is off-topic. Germany had a policy of heim ins reich, meaning incorporating all people who wanted to be in Germany, in Germany. The fight was over Danzig, a 97% german that wanted to return to Germany. But Poland did not want that as it was their only major seaport. The allies, who wanted to keep Germany down, secretly encouraged the Poles not to give in and promised support (an empty promise, as the allies did not care about Poland). The conflict escalated, the Poles mobilized months before the Germans did and ventured to make the life of the Germans living in Poland due to Versailles, misserable. Tens of thousands of Germans fled to Germany, many were killed and the situation ever more escalated. More important, the very expansionist Poles already in 1939 had set their sights on Eastern Prussia, a goal they accomplished by brutally ethnic cleansing some 8 million Germans in 1945, all tolerated by the allies.
Recently Russian officials supported these views:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/russia/5445161/Russia-accuses-Poland-of-starting-Second-World-War.html
My opinion is that if Russia will be cornered by the US even more, Putin will be tempted to pull the plug on the holocaust. Iran is the first nation that is officially post holocaust and this is no coincidence but likely done in close consultation with Russia, which knows the truth from their archives. Russia will do this to draw Germany into the SCO camp a few months after hostillities in the Gulf will begin.
Arthur on Fri, 17th Aug 2012 11:11 pm
Look at what Ahmadinejad has said today: pure historic revisionism:
http://www.presstv.ir/detail/2012/08/17/256703/quds-day-will-remove-zionist-black-stain/#.UC7LjGthiSM
He says that WW1 and WW2 were masterminded by the zionists, which is certainly true for WW2 (and now WW3), as well as the US war entry in WW1 (Balfour deal). Not sure about the start of WW1, but maybe A. Knows more than I.
These statements make me think that Putin will be prepared to destroy the post WW2 allied concensus and the Nuremberg trial results once WW3 will be initiated by Israel.

This is an article by a former Reagan cabinet secretary; the tone is unprecedented.
“Israel is a tiny insignificant state, created by the careless British and the stupid americans. It has no power except what its american protector provides. Yet, despite Israel’s insignificance, it rules Washington.”
Hmm, it’s a bit more complicated than that. It is the jews living in the US that ran the place and they + Israel form one homogenous group.
“When a resolution introduced by the Israel Lobby is delivered to Congress, it passes unanimously. If Israel wants war, Israel gets its wish… The power that tiny Israel exercises over the “worlds’s only superpower” is unique in history. Tens of millions of “christians” bow down to this power, reinforcing it, moved by the exhortations of their “christian” ministers.”
Reason for this influence is the association chain: criticism Israel –> antisemitism –> Nazi –> gaschamber –> mass murderer
“Netanyahu lusts for war against Iran. He strikes out against all who oppose his war lust. Recently, he called Israel’s top generals “pussies” for warning against a war with Iran.”
There are signs that the majority of the sraeli army is not keen on fighting this war.
“Netanyahu is not alone. He has the american neoconservatives in his corner. The american neoconservatives are as crazed as Netanyahu. They believe in nuclear war and are itching to nuke some Muslim country and then get on to nuking Russia and China.”
Btw ‘neoconservative’ is a eufemism for ‘jewish dominated political movement’, just like bolshevism. Neo-conservatives are to be seen as neo trotskyite’s, that’s were their roots were.
Russia is already preparing for strategic red alert. What’s brewing here is as grave as the cuban missile crisis.
The way out is a peace march on AIPAC Washington, by the only people who can stop this madness, the american population itself. And do not forget to take your firearms with you.
“Washington will do what it can to assassinate Putin and effect regime change through the Russian “opposition” that Washington funds. Failing that, Washington’s pursuit of world hegemony has run up against a brick wall.”
Washington has only enemies, apart from Britain and down under. Continental Europe already refused to support the US in 2003 against Iraq (retalliation: ‘cheese eating surrender monkey’ and ‘freedom fries’) and will refuse again to participate in a war against Iran and Russia/China.
