Typical superstitious biblical mythological nonsense- this talk is not worthy of a science site.

I hear no magic in this presentation. There is no argument that if you can divine the number of arc angels on the head of a pin you will be saved. Common sense suggestions for survival are made here. Your problem my friend is that you are tripped up by the Christian metaphors. This presentation is targeting a Christian community. It uses these metaphors to put commonly held scientific views into a Christian context. This will allow this community to reconcile these scientific theories with their faith. Using these metaphors, this minister puts forth the idea that unlimited growth is not sustainable. He warns them of impending social and economic collapse. He asks his congregation to embrace a more simple society similar to that of the Amish. He asks them to abandon materialism. He urges them to conserve energy. He asks them to plant a garden. He asks them to share.
Considering the vast majority of Americans believe in angels, I would argue that religion is hard wired into the species. I believe it is a survival instinct. The level of commitment, the solidarity of community and willingness for self-sacrifice cannot be matched by any other western organization. Hitler put Seventh Day Adventist in concentration camps. While he was locking them up, he admonished his on SS for lacking the commitment and bravery exhibited by these Christians. It would be a mistake to overlook small churches as havens of sustainability in a crisis. The Noah story is very popular these days

Considering christians kick-started the last dark ages, lasting well over 1500 years in the west, these are the LAST people anyone should be taking any advice from as we are potentially due for another round of darkness. Also, ..strangely enought, christians are joined at the hip of the power elites that are kicking civilization down the decline slope…again.

This was a good attempt at reconciling the ingrained beliefs of the religious with the realities of today. We have lost sight of or ‘fellow man’ in the greed of today. That is, the Westerners have.
I live in the Philippines and I can see that in practice here. The more successful a Filipino is, the less he is willing to help the less fortunate. A few families that gained their wealth and power under dictatorships in past years, especially when the Philippines was a Us colony, now own most of the city of Manila and much of the other centers of wealth in the country. They are no different than the ones in the Us that want more, more, more, on the backs of the rest.
Greed, exploited by the West, has destroyed our chance to ever be a truly magnificent humanity. Imagine the wealth wasted on wars and building things not needed, but glorifying man. Had all of that waste been put to intelligent, rational use, there would not be poverty anywhere. Bankers would not have existed in their current form as looter and gangsters, destroying whole countries in their greed. Politicians would be your neighbor, living just as you do, but serving as real servants of the people, not their masters. Ah, but…here we are and the Biblical Armageddon is not far away…

You lay the dark ages on the doorstep of Christianity while in fact, Christianity may have served as a repository of western civilization during a period of drastic climate change and social collapse. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2001/01/010102061812.htm
