Japan consumes roughly 4.5 million barrels a day in gasoline and diesel fuel but none of it is produced by the country. In 1996 Japanese oil consumption peaked near 6 million barrels a day and has never recovered. The country is also facing deflation and kamikazi attacks by zombie banks.
