India added more than 181 million people to its swelling population in the past decade, growing to more than 1.21 billion, according to census data released yesterday.
“We are now over 17 percent of the world population, and India is 2.4 percent of the world’s surface area,’’ said C. Chandramauli, India’s census commissioner.
The census’s most alarming finding is the continuing preference for sons over daughters in Indian society.
In the past decade, the ratio of girls to boys for children 6 and younger has plunged to 914 girls per 1,000 boys. The ratio was 927 girls to 1,000 boys in the previous census.
“This is a matter of grave concern. This is the lowest ever in the demographic history of the country,’’ Chandramauli said.
“The last census in 2001 had warned us about this; the tendency has worsened.’’
In many parts of India, female fetuses are aborted or female infants killed soon after birth by families that look upon daughters as a financial burden.
The trend is worse in the states where people are prosperous and educated, including the northern state of Punjab and the western state of Gujarat.
The practice has continued despite a government ban on the use of ultrasound tests to reveal the gender of an unborn fetus to its family.

Here is my prediction for the comeing crisis that we all face. India will be the first area to collapse under the combined effects of PO, the damage done by the so-called “green revolution” and massive overpopulation. India truely is the sink-hole of the world and its not going to get any better. They will simply keep adding more people until the land simply cannot take it anymore and when that happens, collapse will come swiftly and harshly. The alleged green revolution in the 70s “saved” india only to set them up for a even worse disaster down the road.
Had India stabilized there population at 700 million, they might have had a chance now. 700 was too many even but an india with 1.5B+ will face a new food crisis at some point, its only a matter of time. There will be no Green Revo 2.0. The claims that GM “food” will allowing places like india to keep breeding w/o limit are hoax.

China was very smart to get the world’s largest agricultural exporter (USA) to run up a massive credit card bill with them. China has their finger on the self-destruct button just in case the USA were to start something silly such as a export ban once global food prices zoom into the stratosphere. I believe the plan is that we all starve together, instead of just China starving.

The world added a billion people in the last 12 years. It will add another billion in the next 12 years. Where will all the jobs, oil, food, and water come from to support this massive population?
