At least two oil companies have moved to evacuate workers from offshore facilities in the Gulf of Mexico. The precaution is because of Tropical Storm Cindy, which is headed toward land.
Shell Oil Company says 56 of its people have been evacuated. Chevron Texaco says it has started evacuations. However, Shell says on its Web site that production is not affected.
