The Lindsey workers then marched up to the nearby Humber refinery, which is run by ConocoPhilips, where they won a show of support from their fellow workers.

Similar action was also under way at Aberthaw power station in South Wales, where 300 contractors walked out, along with another 60 at a site in Staythorpe outside Nottingham. A handful of contractors also failed to show up at a power station in Didcot in Oxfordshire.
