Cameroon oil output to edge up in 2011

Cameroon’s oil output will stabilise at 84,000 barrels a day for the next two years then rise a little in 2011 when six fields are put into production, a senior official at the state-owned oil company said on Thursday.

The country became a modest oil exporter in 1977. Production peaked in 1985 at 185,000 barrels a day and declined steadily to 66,000 b/d in 2004. It then rose to 87,300 b/d in 2006, before falling to 85,600 b/d in 2007 and to 84,400 b/d in 2008
