China promotes national energy strategy

China has set up a national energy group headed by Premier Wen Jiabao. Vice Premiers Huang Ju and Zeng Peiyan were named deputy heads.

This was announced at the 1st meeting of the Chinese national energy steering board. Speaking at the meeting, Wen stressed that energy is an important strategic issue concerning China’s  economic growth, social stability and national security.
