Producing As Much Home Energy As They Use

Todd and Michelle Cory have long been interested in how energy impacts the planet. With their efforts reaching near net-zero electrical use, the couple’s Mount Shasta home was recently featured on the cover of the June/July issue of Home Power magazine.

The Corys use a combination of energy waste reduction, solar panels, solar hot water and solar thermal heating to reach virtually net-zero electricity use, meaning their home is super-efficient, with much of their electricity produced by solar panels.

They draw electricity from the grid at night and on cloudy days, or from storage batteries, but overall they generate at least as much energy as they consume each year.
