Town Hall Conference a Success

Over two hundred people attended Nevada County’s first annual Town Hall Conference on the subject of Peak Oil and Nevada County’s preparation for the coming changes it will bring. The strong showing during the all-day event last Saturday, May 21st at the Grass Valley Veteran’s Building on South Auburn St occurred despite summer-like weather after a week’s worth of rain. This year’s local speakers included District 1 Supervisor Nate Beason, folk singer and raconteur, Utah Philips, and Ray Darby of the Sustainable Energy Group. All gave powerful talks on community and local activism.
