Labour conference: Britain needs coal-burning power stations, warns minister

Britain will suffer blackouts until new coal-fired power stations are built soon, a Cabinet minister is to warn.

John Hutton, the Business Secretary will issue the warning in a speech to the Labour Party conference in Manchester.

He will also repeat the Government’s determinination to build a new wave of nuclear power plants, which he says are “low carbon, reliable, secure.”
