Sharjah: A massive fire broke out at a storage facility of an oil refining company located in Sharjah’s Port Khalid at midnight.
At least two people have been injured.
Officials said on Saturday that the cause of the blaze is under investigation.
They also said that firefighters and the Civil Defence were trying to prevent the blaze from reaching a massive oil storage facility.
The fire is just 200 metres away from the oil storage facility of Emirates Lube Oil Company.
Eyewitnesses and police officials at the scene told Gulf News that the fire started at Emirates Oil Refining Company (ERCO) premises at midnight.
Smoke can be seen from afar and thick black clouds of smoke have engulfed skies in Sharjah and Dubai.
Police cordoned off the area around the depot while hundreds of people, mostly port workers, have gathered outside the gate to look at the sky-high flames.
