Hurricane Ike is forecast to be in the Gulf of Mexico later this week, less than 2 weeks after a weakening Hurricane Gustav moved ashore in Louisiana, shutting in oil and gas production and causing damage to transmission lines as JoulesBurn writes above. (As of two nights ago, the LOOP came back up on one of the three mooring points, (8 days down time) – Port Fourchon is partly open but is still in bad shape, with lot of debris and they don’t have power). (If the latest forecast track ends up verifying, it would only be the 5th time in history with 3 Western GOM (La +Tx) hurricane landfalls in one year – 1860, 1886, 1909, and 2005)
