SKYROCKETING fuel prices have triggered a growing spate of “drive-offs” from service stations across NSW, prompting authorities to consider tougher measures to battle the petrol pump war.
With petrol prices soaring across Sydney, desperate drivers are now committing more than 31 “drive-offs” a day, according to police statistics obtained by The Daily Telegraph.
Authorities have also admitted more “mums and dads” were stealing fuel to help make ends meet.
“We are starting to see mums and dads participating in it,” a senior police source said.
