UK: Petrol crisis looming as fuel fears grow

Britain could be on the brink of a petrol shortage as work begins to close a pipeline that delivers 30% of the UK’s oil.

It’s feared a two-day strike at the Grangemouth refinery could spark panic buys at petrol stations.

The two-day strike by up 1,200 workers at the Grangemouth refinery in Scotland, which starts on Sunday, looks set to close the Forties pipeline, which brings in 700,000 barrels of oil a day from the North Sea.
