(Bloomberg) — Enterprise Product Partners LP, the second-largest U.S. pipeline partnership by market value, shut its Independence Hub natural gas platform and a related pipeline in the Gulf of Mexico for repairs that may take four weeks.
A leak on the export pipeline was detected at the $630 million Independence Hub facility this morning, company spokesman Rick Rainey said in a telephone interview from Houston.
The work will take between one and four weeks, the company said in a statement. The leak is originating from an O-ring gasket on a flex joint of the pipeline in about 85 feet (26 meters) of water, the company said.
The capacity of the line is about 1 billion cubic feet a day. It was moving about 900 million cubic feet when it closed, he said.
