WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney is expected to discuss high energy prices with Saudi King Abdullah during Cheney’s Middle East trip later this month, the White House said Monday.
White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said U.S. President George W. Bush’s message to Saudi Arabia and other OPEC countries remained unchanged. “Obviously we want to see an increase in production,” she told reporters.
But she declined to say whether Cheney, whose trip to the region follows one by Bush in January, would specifically press Abdullah to push OPEC to raise output, something the group has so far resisted doing.
