You probably have heard more about climate change and energy supply issues in the last year than in the last 10. We have all noticed the increase in fuel prices and felt its effect on our budgets.
This Friday you can get the latest information on climate change and energy, how they might affect communities and how to prepare for them.
Come to the public meeting on Planning for Our Climate and Energy Future, co-sponsored by the Rochester Community and Technical College and the Olmsted County Clean Energy Resources Team. The meeting will be chaired by State Rep. Bill Hilty, DFL-Finlayson, chairman of the Minnesota House Energy Policy and Budget Division.
The meeting will be from 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday at the Heintz Center Commons, 1926 College View Drive. Admission is free and no reservations are required.
You will hear presentations by two experts on Peak Oil and global warming and their effects on communities. They are John Kauffman, senior policy analyst for the Oregon Department of Energy’s conservation division, and Daniel Lerch, program director for the Post Carbon Institute.
The hearing is important because many experts say global climate change and energy shortages severely threaten our future.
