INJECTION RISKS TREMORS, POLLUTION

KUWAIT CITY: Chairman of Green Line Environmental Group Khaled Al-Hajri accuses Kuwait Gulf Oil Company (KGOC), a subsidiary of Kuwait Petroleum Company (KPC), and Saudi SAK Oil Company of planning to inject approximately 9 million cubic meters of chemical toxic wastes into the ground in close proximity of Wafraa farms. At a press conference held on Saturday in the Group
Al-Hajry said that the two firms intend to inject this amount into the ground in a bid to rid themselves of the disaster they have created. However, this will cause even more hazards including tremors, poisoning of groundwater sources and thus vegetation. He stressed that the two firms must take full responsibility for their hazardous actions. Despite the availability of environment-friendly methods to treat and benefit from these wastes, Al-Hajri said
