Oil and Pollution at a Critical Stage

High oil prices and global climate change have come hand in hand. This brings about actions and proposals that may be contradictory, because far from alleviating the problem, they may create additional and very serious difficulties like worsening the world
Among the first real impacts of this proposal is the hike of 21 per cent by the middle of 2007, compared to 2005, for farm crops and 30 per cent increase in cereals and vegetable oil, according to price indexes released by the World Bank.

The upward trend in oil prices -from about 30 dollars per barrel in 2003 to little less than 80 dollars in the current year- boosts production of alternative sources and launches great uncertainty over the planet
