Pakistan: New petroleum policy on boosting oil and gas production approved

ISLAMABAD: Government has accorded formal approval to new petroleum policy whereby different packages have been announced for oil and gas exploring companies.

Unveiling the new petroleum policy here Thursday in a press conference, secretary petroleum Waqar Ahmad said the policy is focused on exploring ways and means to boost the national oil and gas productivity.
He told government was working on this policy since the last one year. Presently gas production per day stands at 70000 barrels and gas production per day is 4 billion cubic feet.

The oil production meets only 20 percent demand of the country and 80 percent oil is imported. We acquire 70 percent of gas production from Sindh and 20 percent from Balochistan.
