SWAZILAND: PETROL PUMPS RUN DRY

LOCAL service stations are running short of fuel, amidst rumours of an impending crisis in neighbouring South Africa.

Interviewed motorists fears attributed the impending fuel crisis to the on-going strike by civil servants in South Africa, which is gaining momentum by the day. Some also blamed the worsening security situation in the Middle East region, which is the largest oil supplier in the world.

A snap survey conducted by The Swazi Observer yesterday revealed that first, it was the environmentally friendly unleaded petrol which dried up. Motorists then opted for the less used leaded type which was also reportedly getting scarcer by the minute at certain service stations by noon yesterday.

Total service stations in Mbabane were reportedly experiencing a desperate situation which forced them to refer motorists to fill up their tanks elsewhere.
