With an eye on changing these terrible stats, and making winter wonderland safe and even more enjoyable for everyone, the Keweenaw Research Center, a research arm of Michigan Technological University and the Mechanical Engineering-Engineering Mechanics Department also of Michigan Tech recently hosted the SAE 2007 Clean Snowmobile Challenge. Students from all across North America met in Houghton to test their ideas on how to create the quietest machine with the cleanest emissions while not sacrificing performance.
