Nigeria: Crude Oil Attracts US, EU to Gulf of Guinea

The Gulf of Guinea becomes interesting to the West because of the richness of its oil and mineral resources. This is the major factor attracting Western countries to the Gulf. The other attraction is because the Western countries see the states along the Gulf as not fully governed. And therefore they are capable of protecting their oil interest. With this, they decided that they would have their presence their so that in case of need they may be opportuned to exploit the oil.

The United States (US) is planning to establish her high command in the same zone before the end of next year. In effect, our own security is being taken up by NATO and US. The ideological, economic and strategic reasons are responsible for their presence along the Gulf of Guinea to ensure that there is no terrorism.
