“Southwestern Energy has a large program kicking off” in the Fayetteville, Party said. “They’ve seen production grow from 9 million cubic feet at the beginning of 2006 to 100 million cubic feet at the end of 2006 in the Arkansas portion of the play.”
There is also a new shale play being actively developed in eastern Oklahoma, he said, with Newfield Exploration and Devon Energy leading the way in that effort.
“There are several area people are trying to develop — the Floyd/Neal Shale in Alabama and Mississippi,” Party said. “The Appalachian plays are still ongoing.”
