The WEO’s Beyond Alternative Policy Scenario (BAPS) case showed how CO2 emissions could be cut by 8 gigatons (Gt) more than in its Alternative Policy Scenario. Four-fifths of the energy and emissions savings in the BAPS Case come from three main categories: demand-side policies, fuel switching to nuclear and renewables in the power sector, and the introduction of CO2 capture and storage (CCS) technology
