HAMMOND, INDIANA – Small businesses like El Taco Real restaurant, in Hammond, would like to become more energy-efficient. But some key ingredients are missing.
“There’s just not enough information out there right now,” said Raymundo Garcia, owner/operator of El Taco Real. “As a small business owner, you are working so hard day to day.”
Also, a lack of incentive to make the necessary investments hold back small businesses, which don’t have the same access to capital as big business, Garcia said.
The Hammond entrepreneur spoke Friday as part of a panel at the Quality of Life Council’s quarterly meeting at The Center at Purdue University Calumet. The meeting’s topic was energy efficiency for small- and mid-size businesses.
