Supply and demand is still the top market mover for grains. But there are some brand new factors traders that are now pencilling into this equation. Take corn. India’s acreage and production is certainly important. But smart Indian traders are now also keeping track of global ethanol demand, especially in the US. The even smarter traders are also focused on grains that can substitute corn, such as bajra, where prices are already flaring.
