BANGLADESH: Load- shedding deepens in city

Residents of Gulshan, Banani and part of Baridhara diplomatic enclave yesterday experienced a bitter day due to load-shedding.

Situation in other areas of the capital, particularly the old part of Dhaka, is unbearable due to regular outage of power.

Power supply in the capital did not improve even after nocturnal processions by residents of some parts of old Dhaka to protest power outage every now and then, informed sources said.

Official sources said yesterday that the worsening of power situation would continue in the city and elsewhere in the country, as there was no sign of improving the situation in near future

An official of DESCO Gulshan station told this Correspondent last night that they were 39 per cent short of power supply.
