Given the recent decision to close the Alaskan oil pipeline operated by BP PLC, an entrepreneur in suburban Lakemoor believes BP might have missed an opportunity by ignoring his technology.
Years ago, Nand K. Gupta, head of Omega Technology Inc., devised a system that uses gamma rays to inspect oil pipelines for corrosion. Had BP been using his system, Gupta said, it’s possible the company would have avoided the corrosion problems that forced it to close pipeline operations.
