Telegraph (UK) – Power cuts could become a regular occurrence if summers become hotter, driving up the demand for air-conditioning, energy specialists warned yesterday.
The drain on the electricity supply during this month’s spell of record temperatures caused the National Grid to issue two power warnings within a week.
Analysts said that increasingly hot weather could lead to even higher energy prices and further shortages as the system struggles to cope.
