China, Thailand to build US$1 billion hydropower plant in Myanmar China’s state-owned Sinohydro Corp. and Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) have agreed to build a US$1 billion hydroelectric station on the Salween River in Myanmar, the Chinese company said Wednesday on its website.
The 600-megawatt station in Hutgyi, Myanmar, is the first of five to be built in partnership by China, Thailand and Myanmar along the Salween, according to Sinohydro official.
